Research Coordinator and Asia-Pacific Program Coordinator
Ottawa, Canada
My work at MiningWatch Canada is carried out in solidarity with communities and indigenous peoples and focuses on human rights and environmental impacts of Canadian mining companies operating primarily in Asia-Pacific. Additionally, I work on a broad range on corporate accountability and access to remedy issues such as: home state responsibilities; mandatory human rights due diligence; project level grievance mechanisms; the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise. I also work on emerging trends in global mining such as deep seabed mining, and the push to increase mining to meet the need for energy transition technology. My Ph.D. is in Anthropology and I publish regularly on mining in peer reviewed journals, a recent publication is: Into the deep: science, politics, and law in conflicts over marine dumping of mine waste (2019). International Social Science Journal.
