Sean Lees is a Business and Human Rights Specialist at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Bangkok Regional Hub. Prior to his work at UNDP, Sean worked on Asia-Pacific trade and investment policy at the Pacific Basin Economic Council and the East-West Center (1994-1996). After obtaining a law degree at Boston College Law School (1999), his interests expanded from international trade to refugee and migration issues, which he pursued as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Homeland Security (1999-2004). Following this, Lees joined UNDP in 2007 and worked on human rights issues in Afghanistan, Fiji, Iraq, Sudan and Thailand. Lees also worked on UN rule of law policy in the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General in New York City (2010-2011). Lees is an alumnus of UC Berkeley (1994).
