Sushil is the Director of Strategic Partnerships at The Fund for Global Human rights. The Fund supports over 300 frontline groups around the world in various thematic areas including natural resource rights and corporate accountability. Sushil brings 20 years of experience in program development, policy advocacy, grantmaking, fundraising, and strategic planning to this position of which fourteen have been with the United Nations. He was previously with the UN Department of Political Affairs as the Head of Donor Relations, Planning and Partnerships. Other UN assignments included developing strategy, managing and mobilizing resources for Multi-Partner Trust Funds, and working with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on assignments in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Nepal and on the Sudan. He also worked with OHCHR in Geneva and New York. Additionally, Sushil has worked as a Senior Program Officer with The Asia Foundation in India, and earlier in his career as a grant maker with the Ford Foundation's Human Rights Unit. Sushil has a special interest in the area of indigenous peoples and minority rights, as well as on natural resource rights and governance. He brings skills in multi-stakeholder consultations, human rights impact assessments, negotiation and mediation, often volunteering his time as a mediator with the New York Peace Institute and with civil and housing courts in New York City. He has a Masters degree in Management and Public Policy from New York University, and a Diploma in International Law and Diplomacy.
